"Fifty Shades of Grey" Set to Hit The Big Screen August 2014!

We can't seem to wipe the big ol' smirk off of our faces with this news!

As if the summer wasn't getting hot enough, Focus Features has announced that they will be releasing a flick for the popular and oh-so-hot book, Fifty Shades of Grey in North America in August 2014. The book has sold more than 70 million copies worldwide in both e-book, and print, and has been translated to over 50 languages. The script, which is based on the novel written by EL James, will be adapted by Kelly Marcel. There is no set date for the international release through Universal Pictures, but it has been said that in March 2012, Focus and Universal shelled out a cool $5 million for the movie rights to the steamy trilogy.

“I’m so excited to be charged with the evolution of Fifty Shades of Grey from page to screen,” Sam Taylor-Johnson, the chosen director has stated.  “For the legions of fans, I want to say that I will honor the power of Erika’s books and the characters of Christian and Anastasia. They are under my skin, too.”

While there is no set cast as to who will play the role of Christian Grey, fans have been taking to Twitter and fan pages to make their suggestions. Some top choices are: Ryan Gosling, Henry Cavil, Alex Pettyfer, and Zac Efron. On Sunday, EL James and Rob Pattison ignited rumors that the author had made her casting call for her kinky, leading man, as she was spotted attending his private birthday bash at his Los Feliz, CA home.

Who would you love to see hit the big screen as Christian Grey?
